Effect of Pyroligneous Acid on the Microbial Community Composition and Plant Growth-Promoting Bacteria (PGPB) in Soils

Pyroligneous acid (PA) is often used in agriculture as a plant growth and yield enhancer. However, the influence of PA application on soil microorganisms not studied. Therefore, this study, we investigated effect (0.01–5% w/w soil) microbial diversity two different soils. At end eight weeks incubation, community dynamics were determined by Illumina-MiSeq sequencing 16S rRNA gene amplicons. The composition differed between lower (0.01% 0.1%) higher (1% 5%) concentration both spiked resulted dehydrogenase activity (DHA) compared to un-spiked control with high concentrations. Interestingly, PA-induced growth-promoting bacterial (PGPB) genera include Bradyrhizobium, Azospirillum, Pseudomonas, Mesorhizobium, Rhizobium, Herbaspiriluum, Acetobacter, Beijerinckia, Nitrosomonas at Additionally, PICRUSt functional analysis revealed predominance metabolism module’s primary component soils 0.01% 0.1% PA. Overall, results elucidated that concentrations promoted DHA enrichment, particularly PGPB genera, thus have great implications for improving health.
